Fiskekretsen will establish a nationwide collection system for fishing gear at recycling centers and ensure that the collected plastic is recycled into new materials or products.

Collected plastic will be transported to certified recycling facilities specialized in processing plastic from fishing gear. Materials that can be recycled, such as nylon and polyethylene, will be processed to become raw material for new products.

For plastic materials that cannot be recycled, Fiskekretsen will collaborate with energy recovery facilities where the plastic can be used as fuel in industries such as cement production, reducing the need for fossil fuels.

Furthermore, Fiskekretsen encourages the development of new technologies for recycling complex materials, such as fishing gear containing mixtures of plastic and other materials.
